How About Now?
Did you get one of these?
God wants us to love/have a passion for Him. But there's a problem. (Actually two.) First, how does one start loving God, when they don't? Does it help to be told "they have to?" Are we supposed to even "try" to love? (What kind of message does that send?) And then, of course, is the issue of our sins. The smallest speck of sin makes us unacceptable in God's sight, because He is more perfect than we can imagine. But God has a plan! A plan that can fix both problems at the same time. The plan is He would LOVE US FIRST, in such a radical way and displaying His love so clearly -- becoming one of us -- in the person of Jesus Christ -- to die in our place -- as the complete payment for our sins -- before rising from the dead -- SO THAT, if we just believe it, then our sins would be forgiven and we'd love Him back without even trying. Mission accomplished! Let me illustrate. What is your first name? Last name? Now put them in the blanks: God had _______ ________ in mind . . . when He became a man and was crucified to pay for sins. Do you believe it? Are your sins forgiven? Do you love Him now?
